We are incredibly proud of our Veterinary Nurses!
In any given day a veterinary nurse may find themselves taking x-rays, medicating patients, doing consults, maintaining equipment, monitoring anaesthetics, dressing wounds, answering phones, and the list goes on!
Our surgery couldn't function without our nurses! From puppy parties to critical assistance in preparing theatre and instruments, preparing wound sites and maintaining anaesthetic, our RVNs are dedicated to providing the best care for their patients.
May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month and this is a chance for us to interact with our clients and the public, so don’t be shy, ask about what your RVNs do, and their special interests! You may find they can help you with a pet problem you have been having. Also, RVNs usually have pets themselves, and love to talk about them just as you do!
Pictured below is RVN, Emma Hughes, and little Katie who was in for some dental work. Katie was a little nervous before her procedure and needed some reassurance that all was OK.
“My name is Emma Hughes and I've worked with Ash Tree Vets since January 2017, and qualified from Nottingham Trent Univeristy in July 2014 - time has flown by!
I enjoy all aspects of working at Ash Tree Vets as we have such a great supportive team, but in particular I love working with cats and trying to make their visits as stress free as possible! I'm currently part way through a year-long course for a Certificate in Feline Nursing. I also really enjoy diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia and working with exotic species and wildlife.
At home, I have two rescue cats called Oberyn and Ellaria, and a corn snake called Manny!”
All animals vaccinated by us are Total Care members. This means that they are entitled to FREE nurse consultations at our Market Harborough surgery, such as; nail clipping, stitch removal, post-op checks, tick removal, feeding and worming advice (and administering), weight clinics, youth clinics and healthcare advice.
